Peter Farkas I was born in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia in 1951 but spent most of my early years in Queensland. In my early twenties my wife and I lived in Tasmania for 3 years and then travelled around Australia finishing up in Darwin. There I worked in the photographic industry for 35 years, first in retail with some studio work, then as a professional photographer with the NT Department of Education as the Department's Senior photographer, followed by 13 years with the Department of Health as the Clinical Photographer at Royal Darwin Hospital. In 2006, my wife and myself moved back to sunny Queensland and settled in picturesque location close to Pomona in the Noosa Hinterland. I have a workshop with a fantastic view on 2 sides, an ideal place inspire my creative endeavors. ![]()
I have been turning wood since 2003. I source most timber locally and do all of the preparation myself. I turn bowls, vases, closed forms, hollow forms and platters.
All pieces undergo a careful finishing process using high quality selected oils or lacquer.
